The Greek Life Community of the State University of New York at Cobleskill is a citizenry that supports and fosters the institution’s mission, vision, and values. Each sorority and fraternity abide by the College’s principles and helps to develop each chapter and member intellectually, socially and ethically. The Greek population upholds the following values:
Why Should I join a Greek Organization?
This is why you came to school isn't it? Joining a Greek organization doesn't mean you’ll lose focus on your studies. Each Greek organization has required study hours, and receives help through tutoring, mentorship, and workshops
Greek Life at SUNY Cobleskill loves lending a helping hand to those in need. We love to partner with organizations with strong causes to donate, give time, and fundraise for them. Each organization continuously participates in community service projects throughout the year. This builds a bridge between helping out those in need, and a bonding experience for each of the different organizations working together.
From the All-Greek Council, to organization executive boards, to campus wide events, you’ll have the opportunity to build your leadership skills immensely. This is a great resume builder and adds to your experience for real life situations. Multiple Greek students have been awarded in the past for their leadership efforts. You could be one!

Resources
Each year, organizations will work towards academic, educational, and organizational goals. Students must abide by the Greek Life Policies and Procedures as developed by the Office of Student Development, and uphold the Greek Community Mission.
Greek students at SUNY Cobleskill participate in weekly All-Greek Council board meetings,
in which
student representatives collaborate to produce and deliver Greek life programming
and events.
Greek Week
An annual week-long fall celebration of all Greek organizations. During this week, the Greek Community hosts different events to promote their organizations and get to know students and faculty. Some events held in the past were movie nights, paint and sips, and gaming tournaments.
Greeks Care
Events and community service activities aimed at enhancing our community and region. All throughout the school year, the Greek Community participates in school and local community service projects. Our most recent project was the “SUNY’s Got Your Back” for sexual domestic violence month where all Greek helped pack bags with items to help the victims of the cause.
Homecoming and Family Weekend
Greek students participate in the activities throughout the weekend, including chapter reunions.
Probates and Initiation
Held every semester to induct new members. A probate is a performance given in front of the school and community to celebrate the crossing (joining) of new members. An Initiation is a private ceremony held with current members to celebrate new members joining into organizations.
Hazing Prevention and Awareness
Greek students have many opportunities to learn about hazing awareness and prevention. Each year, each Greek organization member is required to sign an Anti-Hazing Agreement and participate in Title IX training.
Greek Olympics
Held in May on the weekend before commencement, Greek students compete in games and challenges with the student body.

Alpha Gamma Rho was founded in 1904. Alpha Gamma Rho is a fraternity sharing a common
bond within a dynamic, global agriculture committed to fostering the highest values
and providing each and every brother with superior lifelong personal development and
professional success. With Alpha Gamma Rho you get the best of both worlds. We're
a social and professional fraternity, and we've been "making better men" for more
than 100 years. We have historically been a strictly-agricultural fraternity, and
we are now extending membership to those pursuing careers in agriculture, food and
fiber, natural resources, life sciences, and related fields. We strive for professionalism,
academic excellence, and lifelong involvement in the colleges and universities we
call home. As an organization, we really enjoy lending a helping hand throughout the
community we call home. We have recently
partnered with the Iroquois Indian Museum in Howes Cave as an ongoing service
project. We can also be seen lending a helping hand in the Village of Cobleskill,
the
Village of Richmondville, The Lord’s Table and Food Pantry, SUNY’s Got Your Back,
Saturday’s Bread in Oneonta, and at Empty Bowls Schoharie County.
Delta Omega Epsilon Fraternity Inc.
Colors: Silver, Black
Motto: Discipline, Dedication, Determination
The Fraternity of Delta Omega Epsilon was founded on April 15, 1985 by Brother Richard Pelestri and Brother Sal Leone. We were established to form a brotherhood, something that reaches beyond that of a friendship. Twenty-five brothers and sisters formed the unity which exists to this day. We as an organization have four goals that we strongly abide by. We encourage and assist the academic progress of fraternity brothers, provide free tutorial and counseling to fraternity brothers, create a brotherhood while attending college, and lastly, we provide students with an opportunity for a business like experience in a fraternal corporation. We also volunteer at community service projects multiple times a year. We’ve worked with the Village of Cobleskill, the Village of Richmondville, Saturday’s Bread in Oneonta, The Lord’s Table and Food Pantry, FAM 5k Run, Empty Bowls Schoharie County, and SUNY’s Got Your Back.
Iota Kappa Sigma Multicultural Sorority Inc.
Colors: Purple, Gold, Black
Motto: Establishing a new clarity to sisterhood
Iota Kappa Sigma was founded on March 24, 2009 at the State University of New York
at Cobleskill by Shameeka Wilson. Iota Kappa Sigma is a multicultural sorority that
strives for women of all colors to bond together to make the world and community a
better place. They will forever uphold ourselves as beautiful, strong, intelligent
women with our letters in front of us and our sisters behind us. We shall forever
rise, like our beloved Phoenix. The benefits of becoming an Iota are networking skills,
leadership skills, overcoming life obstacles with a sisterhood, gaining support, and
help with developing career paths! We host annual fundraisers such as our “Royal Banquet”
or our “Pie an Iota”, and many more. We also strive to help our community as much
as possible. Recently, we’ve volunteered to help with the Village of Cobleskill, the
Village of Richmondville, SUNY’s Got Your Back, Saturday’s Bread in Oneonta, The Lord’s
Table and Food Pantry, and Empty Bowls Schoharie County.
Omega Kappa Mu Multicultural Fraternity Inc.
Colors: Purple, Silver, Blue
Motto: Power, Strength, Respect, Determination
Omega Kappa Mu was founded on September 13, 2011 at the State University of New York
at Cobleskill by Deshauna Young, Aubrey Oates, Talehia McCants, and Namib Harris.
We are multicultural, supporting diversity and not discriminating against race, sexual
preference, or background. Omega Kappa Mu is dedicated to raising a standard in young
men, while striving for brotherhood, wisdom, loyalty, and respect for their community,
and their fellow man. Our mission is to help and encourage young men in our communities,
to finish what they have started, and to never quit. The goals we stand by as an organization
are education, brotherhood, perseverance, dignity, and prosperity. Community service
is also extremely important to our organization. We have had the pleasure to work
with the Village of Cobleskill, the Village of Richmondville, SUNY’s Got Your Back,
Saturday’s Bread in Oneonta, Empty Bowls Schoharie County, The Lord’s Table and Food
Pantry,
and Refugee and Immigrant Support Services of Emmaus.

Motto: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, Fellowship
Sigma Alpha is a professional agricultural sorority that promotes scholarship, leadership,
service and fellowship among its members. The sorority was founded in 1978 at the
Ohio State University by five women who wanted an alternative to the social Greek
sorority system. Since that time, Sigma Alpha has become a national organization consisting
of more than 80 chapters, comprised of undergraduate and alumnae members. The benefits
of joining Sigma Alpha include community participation, leadership conferences, scholarships,
a large network of sisters, opportunity to serve on the Board of National Sororities
and the Educational Foundation Board, and a fun and rewarding experience! We also
volunteer very often with community service projects. We’ve helped out the Village
of Cobleskill, the Village of Richmondville, SUNY’s Got Your Back, Saturday’s Bread
in Oneonta, The Lord’s Table and Food Pantry, and Empty Bowls Schoharie County.
Sigma Omega Epsilon Sorority Inc.
Colors: Burgundy, Gray
Motto: Unity, Diversity, and Sisterhood
Founded on October 3, 1994 at the City University of New York at the College of Staten
Island, Sigma Omega Epsilon is a diverse sorority that provides experience in self-government
and encourages its members to develop leadership skills and relations with other individuals.
Sigma Omega Epsilon is simply defined as a society of diverse women (ethnicities,
sexualities, careers, backgrounds, etc.) who work together to better the community
and are bonded by sisterhood. Our goals are to achieve academic excellence, encourage
progression, become role models to better the community, perform at least two community
service projects each month, apply a sense of unity and sisterhood, and promote philanthropy
throughout the school and our community. We support two philanthropic causes which
are the AIDS Research Alliance and the American Autism Association. Some of our community
service projects include working with the Village of Cobleskill, the Village of Richmondville,
SUNY’s Got Your Back, The Lord’s Table and Food Pantry, FAM 5k Run, Saturday’s Bread
in Oneonta, and Empty Bowls Schoharie County.
