The CDC recommends that people with respiratory illness (COVID-19, influenza, respiratory
syncytial virus) stay home and away from others. They may return to normal activities
when, for at least 24 hours, symptoms are improving overall, and if a fever was present,
it has been gone without the use of a fever-reducing medication.
Once you resume normal activities, you are encouraged to take additional prevention strategies for the next five days to prevent the spread of illness, such as:
Enhanced precautions are especially important to protect those most at risk for severe illness, including those over 65 and people with weakened immune systems. While COVID-19 remains a threat, today it is far less likely to cause severe illness because of widespread immunity and improved tools to prevent and treat the disease.

People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure. Anyone can have mild to severe symptoms. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:
Students should test if they are symptomatic for COVID-19. If you test positive, inform the Wellness Center by emailing WellnessCenter@cobleskill.edu with the following:

SUNY Cobleskill reserves the right to increase the rate of testing for students based
on levels of transmission on campus and in our geographic region.
At this time, face masks are not required inside campus buildings. This applies to
all areas of campus, including residence halls and instructional spaces (with one
exception, noted below). Faculty and staff do not have the authority on their own
to institute mask requirements in classrooms or offices.
Of course, everyone has the right to choose to continue wearing a mask, and the College
expects all members of our campus to respect the decision to do so.
There are specific instances on campus in which use of a mask is encouraged:
If you have have tested positive for COVID-19, wear a mask for five days once you have resumed normal activities, per CDC guidelines.
All students are strongly encouraged to stay up to date on their initial course of
COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters consistent with the Center for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC) recommendations. While vaccines are not required at this time
as a condition of enrollment, SUNY reserves the authority to change this policy at
any time because of changes in local conditions or due to requirements imposed by
Federal, State or local governments.
Students enrolled in any program or course or who are participating in a clinical
or internship held at a third-party location must continue to comply with all health
and safety guidelines, including any vaccination or testing protocols that are in
place at the third- party location. Certain employees, students, and volunteers at
healthcare facilities, including SUNY healthcare facilities and hospitals, may be
subject to mandatory COVID- 19 vaccination pursuant to relevant regulations and policies.
SUNY Cobleskill will continuously examine COVID-19 data and update its policy as needed
based on local conditions or in response to requirements imposed by federal, state,
or local authorities.
For information on the COVID-19 vaccine, visit the CDC’s website. To find a vaccine site near you and to schedule an appointment, visit New York State’s COVID-19 Vaccine website or the CDC’s Vaccine Finder.
