Haudenosaunee Confederacy Flag Dedication
As the end of the month draws near, we remain committed to commemorating Native American cultures beyond Native American Heritage Month. We especially recognize and appreciate the Mohawk Nation, whose ancestral lands include the land upon which our campus stands. We are in agreement that our efforts to acknowledge and recognize the Mohawk Nation and all of the nations represented in the Haudenosaunee Confederacy are ongoing.
In November 2022, President Terenzio issued a proclamation identifying a campus pathway as the Haudenosaunee Pathway of Pride 2025. The pathway will serve as permanent acknowledgement and commemoration and as a catalyst to encourage conversation and a desire within our campus community to learn more about the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
With this continuous energy in mind, the campus will fly the Haudenosaunee Confederacy flag among the flags above Veterans Circle (between Knapp Hall and Bouck Hall). This symbolic gesture further acknowledges the six nations that collectively represent the Haudenosaunee Confederacy.
