Alta Equipment Company Scholarship |
This scholarship fund was established to benefit students in the Department of Ag Engineering at SUNY Cobleskill. The recipient will be pursuing a degree in diesel technology, ag engineering, or ag power machinery. The recipient must either be currently employed by an Alta dealership, and/or agree to do an on-site experiential applied learning placement (internship) at an Alta dealership. It is preferred the recipient maintains a GPA of at least 2.5. A letter of recommendation is needed from a teacher, faculty member, community leader, or employer; Alta may also put forward a recommendation directly to the College. Each year, the Ag Eng Department Chair will put forward the names of recommended recipients to the College Foundation. The student must not already be receiving a scholarship from a non-Alta dealership. The scholarship is renewable. The scholarship must be used toward non-tuition educational expenses that a student incurs in their pursuit of a bachelor’s or associate degree at SUNY Cobleskill. |
Alumni Legacy Scholarship |
Incoming and continuing students with academic excellence, having one or more parents who are SUNY Cobleskill alumni. Consideration will also be given to students who have other family members as College alumni. Exceptional community service and leadership ability will also be considered. This scholarship must be used toward non-tuition educational expenses that a student incurs in their full-time pursuit of a Bachelors or Associates degree at SUNY Cobleskill. |

These grants shall be given to promising undergraduate or graduate school students majoring in horticulture or forestry who have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in Arboriculture. Evidence of interest may consist or courses, internships, work experience or special projects in these fields. Students at any level from newly admitted freshman to Masters students may be considered. Candidates must be enrolled as full-time students and attend classes on campus unless permission is requested in writing and granted by The Bartlett Tree Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors or its designated representative. |
William (Bill) Barton Scholarship Endowment | For continuing bachelor of technology students majoring in an Agriculture and Natural Resources major, with preference given to dairy students. Students must have a 3.25 or higher GPA, be an outstanding campus citizen and display potential for making a positive contribution to the agricultural community. |
Andy Bates Alumni Memorial Scholarship Endowment | Ag continuing majoring in Ag Eng or Turfgrass Management who have completed 30 or more college credits and have a 2.50 or higher cumulative average at SUNY Cobleskill. Derwin and Annie R. Bennett Scholarship Endowment | Continuing Business Administration, Agricultural, Graphic Design or Social Science major who is also a member of the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP). Student must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and must also be in a student leadership position or experience on campus. If an EOP student is not available, a general admit student can receive. |
Effie Bennett-Powe Scholarship Endowment | Early Childhood continuing student with 30 – 50 credits, financial need, 3.0 or higher GPA. The student must have completed Anti-Bias Strategies: A Human Relations Approach. The student must have intent to pursue a baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood education as well as evidence of participation in an anti-bias strategies project such as workshops, presentations, letter-writing campaigns, or volunteerism. Applicants should submit a one page statement requesting the scholarship and two letters of recommendation. |
The Robert E. & Ethel M. Benninger Endowed Catering Scholarship | Returning student majoring in Culinary Arts with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Student should demonstrate an aptitude in catering with a B+ or higher in the SUNY Cobleskill Catering Class. Preference is given to Schoharie County students. Financial need is required. |
George Berner Scholarship Endowment |
Continuing student in the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources, preferable Fisheries and Wildlife, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Recipient should be a non-traditional student who shows involvement in campus and club activities. Financial Need is required. |
Kevin L. Berner Scholarship Endowment | Designated for a returning Wildlife Management student with at least a 3.0 GPA. The
student should be an active member of the Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society
and should exhibit leadership in that group. It is preferred that the fund should
be used to help to underwrite the expenses of a student attending the annual national
meeting of The Wildlife Society. Secondarily it could be used for student travel to
present at other professional meetings. This scholarship must be used toward non-tuition educational expenses (travel expenses) that a student incurs in their full-time pursuit of a Bachelors or Associates degree at SUNY Cobleskill. |
Welton "Doc" Blessing Memorial BT in Agricultural Machinery Endowed Scholarship | Recipients will be continuing, full-time students who demonstrate financial need and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. The Celia W. Braun & Irene K. Braun Scholarship Endowment for Women | It is for one continuing female student whose lifestyle reflects stewardship of Mother Earth. To be eligible you must submit a 250-350 word college-level essay answering the following question: “What have you already accomplished in your life in order to help sustain Mother Earth so that future generations can thrive?” Preference will be given to a female Schoharie County high school graduate and/or a non-traditional age woman. |
Braun/Loduha Family Scholarship Endowment | Continuing student who engages in research related to environmental sustainability broadly defined. To be eligible student must submit a 250-350 word college-level essay answering the following question-"What impact will your research have in order to help sustain the Earth for future generations." Preference will be given to a Schoharie County high school graduate and/or a non-traditional age student. |
Brinkman/Parker Scholarship Endowment | To be awarded to an incoming student with a average grade of a C or better or a returning student with a minimum GPA of 2.25. The student must be a business or culinary student involved in any civic activities or sports. |

Dr. Chester and Nancy Burton Annual Scholarship for Business Students | To be awarded to two continuing students who are enrolled in a business program at SUNY Cobleskill. Preference will be given to students with a 3.25 GPA who are Epsilon Pi Tau Honor Society (EPT) members in good standing. Further preference will be given to students who have completed at least 22 credits. The scholarship must be used toward non-tuition educational expenses that students incur in their full-time pursuit of a Bachelor or Associates degree at SUNY Cobleskill. |
Callanan Industries Workforce Development Scholarship | This annual scholarship was established to reward incoming, continuing or transfer students enrolled in SUNY Cobleskill’s ag equipment technology, diesel technology, or power machinery programs. The recipient must either be currently employed by Callanan Industries, and/or agree to do a paid internship placement at Callanan Industries. The recipient must maintain a GPA of at least 2.5. A letter of recommendation is needed from a teacher, community leader, or employer; Callanan may also put forward a recommendation directly to the College. Financial need is not required but should be considered. The scholarship is renewable. The scholarship must be used toward non-tuition educational expenses. |
Milton CAT / Caterpillar Fund | Reward incoming, continuing or transfer Ag Engineering students with career goals in the heavy equipment industry. Minimum GPA of 3.0. Financial need not required, but should be considered. Students must be enrolled in the Ag Equipment Technology BT, Diesel Technology or Power and Machinery majors. Students selected shall not be sponsored by a non-Caterpillar dealership. Letter of recommendation from instructor and business connection is required. |
Champion of Sustainability Endowed Scholarship | Recipients will be SUNY Cobleskill students who have demonstrated an interest in sustainability. The recipient will have financial need. Preferably the recipient will have a 2.5 or higher GPA (or equivalent academic standing if an incoming student). Preferred consideration will be given to members of the Plant Science & Sustainability Club or similar organization. The scholarship is renewable provided criteria continues to be met. The scholarship must be used towards non-tuition educational expenses that a student incurs in their full-time pursuit of a Bachelor or Associates degree at SUNY Cobleskill. |

Walter J. Clark Scholarship Endowment |
Continuing or internal transfer Ag Bachelor, must have a 3.25 or higher college GPA and demonstrate active involvement in college and student activities. Student financial need will also be considered. |

Ron Cleeve Endowed Scholarship | To benefit students in psychology or a related field at SUNY Cobleskill. This scholarship must be used toward non-tuition educational expenses that a student incurs in their full-time pursuit of a bachelor's degree or a associate degree at SUNY Cobleskill. |
The Michael Cobbins Transfer Student Scholarship | Scholarship awarded for one year to a transfer student with financial need. Student transferring into a two year degree program at SUNY Cobleskill, must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA at a prior institution and transferring in a minimum of 30 credit hours. If a student is transferring into a four year program at SUNY Cobleskill, they must have a 3.0 GPA and a minimum of 60 credit hours from a prior institution. An early child hood education student is preferred for this scholarship. |
Cobleskill Auxiliary Services Scholarship Endowment | The recipient will be a full-time student in a food systems or culinary curriculum (preferred), or other major. Preferably, the recipient will have financial need. The recipient will have a 2.0 or higher GPA. The scholarship is automatically renewable provided the criteria continues to be met. Coby Bound Presidential Scholarship | Recipients will be full-time students, preferably incoming students who have participated in the College in the High School program. Recipients will have a high school average of 90 or higher or a college GPA of 3.0 or higher. Recipients will have demonstrated academic potential and commitment to working hard in school, work or the community. The scholarship can be used for non-tuition college expenses and is renewable for one additional year. |

Preference will be given to students in Liberal Arts & Sciences programs. Secondarily, School of Agriculture & Natural Sciences students with an interest in pursuing a career in waste to energy, agricultural business, or law will be considered. Nick Failla Memorial Agricultural Engineering Scholarship Endowment | Returning student with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Preference given to student with financial need, but not a requirement. The Clifford and Elizabeth Hay Scholarship Endowment | To be awarded to a Dairy Science student with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Preference goes to an individual that was active in FFA. |
Margaret Hayes Pay-It-Forward Endowed Memorial Fund |
Recipients will be selected as a result of experiencing unexpected or unanticipated hardships that arise during the academic year such as books, graduation gown purchase, gas money, etc. Recipients will have exhausted all other existing options such as the CobyFund. |
Gerald and Nancy Hisert Scholarship Endowment | The recipient will be an incoming student with a high school average of 80 or higher or will be a transfer or continuing student with a minimum GPA of 2.5. The student will have an interest in pursuing a career in business. Preference will be given a to student with an interest in the Hisert family history and its connection to Cobleskill. Helen and Bernard Horowitz Scholarship Endowment | Incoming student who ranks in the top 20% of their high school graduating class and who can not meet the requirements for a family or personal contribution after other forms of financial aid have been considered. This scholarship recognizes students who are dedicated to education and service to others – a true reflection of Dr. Jiang’s legacy. MacWatters Scholarship Endowment |
Recipients will be returning students enrolled in a Fisheries, Wildlife & Environmental Science program at SUNY Cobleskill, who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance. Recipients will complete an internship at the Otsego Lake Biological Field Station or another internship of similar nature. Recipients will be upperclassmen who demonstrate high academic caliber (only Culinary Arts coursework should be considered in this evaluation). Should all criteria continue to be met, the award is renewable the following year.
