Commencement FAQs

When? 

Commencement will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.

 

Where? 

Our Commencement Ceremony will be held outdoors, adjacent to the Neal Robbins Field House. View the Campus Map here. The Neal Robbins Field House is Building 59 on the map. 

 

Is there a rehearsal? 

No. Faculty and staff will be available the day of to direct you where you should line up and give you direction regarding the ceremony.

 

How long does the ceremony last? 

The ceremony lasts approximately 2 hours.

 

How many guests may I bring? 

Outdoor ceremony does not require tickets so you may bring as many guests as you would like. Note that there is no reserved seating.

 

Is there reserved seating? 

There is no reserved seating for guests.

 

Accommodations for Individuals with Disabilities

If you need accommodations during the Commencement ceremony due to physical limitation, please contact the Office of Campus Events and Conferences at 518-255-5690 or Commencement@cobleskill.edu before the event by Monday, May 13. While we will try our best to make accommodations in the days before and on the day of the event, our resources may become limited as the event approaches. 

 

How does a graduating student get the cap and gown? 

Graduation regalia will be available to purchase in the College Store beginning Monday, April 8. No need to pre-order. 

All regalia items are available ala cart, giving our graduates the options to purchase the pieces they may need without having to purchase the whole unit.

 

Is there a charge for cap and gown? 

Yes. The Bachelors regalia bundle (cap, gown, tassel, and discipline hood) is $125.00 plus tax. The Associate regalia bundle (cap, gown, and tassel) is $85.00 plus tax). Students can purchase regalia at the College Store. Will I get my diploma on Commencement day? 

Diplomas will not be distributed at Commencement. They will be mailed to each graduate's address listed on their graduation application, approximately 2 months after certification by the faculty that all graduation requirements have been met.

 

How do I get my diploma if I do not attend? 

Your diploma will be mailed to your address listed on your graduation application, approximately two months after certification by the faculty that all graduation requirements have been met.

Your diploma will be sent to the address listed on your graduation application.

 

Can we take photographs during the ceremony? 

Guests may take photographs from their seats; however, in order to avoid obstructing the view of others, you are asked not to approach the stage area. SUNY Cobleskill has contracted with Grad Images, to take photographs of each graduate receiving their diploma from President Terenzio. Grad Images, will contact graduates via email regarding the possible purchase of these photographs. The College does not benefit financially from this arrangement; it is provided as a service to graduates and their families. You are not obligated to purchase the photographs.
