Taking an online or hybrid course is a great way to achieve your educational goals.

Online learning offers students flexibility, but there are several considerations for them regarding the completion of their educational goals. Research into online learning has shown that there are characteristics that lend themselves to successful online education, which include: 

No instrument can truly predict success in online or hybrid courses. However, having a clear understanding of your circumstances and how they influence your behavior can be the difference between completing or not completing the class. Once you are aware of your strengths and weaknesses, you can take steps to cultivate behaviors that will contribute with your educational success.

In addition to these challenges, students will have to consider their individual circumstances. These circumstances include but are not limited to, whether they will be on campus during the term? Will they have sufficient access to a computer and the internet if needed? If they are working full-time, will their duties allow for sufficient time to work on college classes?

The following self-assessment is designed to give you the opportunity to assess your skills and identify possible weaknesses that may affect your success when taking online learning classes. This instrument is not meant to substitute for educational counseling or to deny you the opportunity to pursue an online learning class. Your honest assessment of your skills and behaviors is in your best interest. We hope this assessment will help you to have a successful educational experience, whether you choose online learning or face-to-face classes.
